In an unfortunate incident, one person died and nine others got injured after a part of a slab of a one-storey apparel factory in Mumbai’s Chembur area collapsed.
The Chembur police and Mumbai Fire Brigade official rushed to the spot for rescue operations. The police have filed an accidental death report.
An official said that necessary action will be taken if any negligence is found on the part of the owners of the unit or anyone else.
The incident, reportedly, took place in the afternoon when the slab on the first floor of the structure collapsed on the workers.
A total of 10 people, who sustained injuries, were rushed to nearby hospital and of them, Murari Jha (22) died.
Kaleem I dirisi, a worker from the factory who received an injury on his left leg, said“The industrial compound has small units, I was working on the first floor of the factory where trousers are stitched. Suddenly the floor collapsed and I somehow managed to hang on the angle of the ceiling.”
As per a Government official, the compound, where the unit is located, has several other smaller units. He said, “Some people escaped with minor injuries after they held onto parts of the ceiling following the collapse.”
