Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh has opened a first-of-its-kind Jeevika Didi Training Cum Production Centre for Skill Training and Production in Begusarai, Bihar.
The Centre was created in collaboration with NIFT Patna, the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and its five Sector Skill Councils (SSCs). Its goal is to empower women-led SHGs by giving them the essential knowledge, resources and tools they need to succeed as successful business owners in the textile and clothing industries.
The 10,000-square-foot centre, which also has 1,000 square feet of open space, is intended to serve as a teaching centre and a production facility. The center’s main goal is to give women advanced skills in production, branding, digital literacy, financial literacy and e-commerce, especially those in Self-Help Groups.
Rajneesh Kumar, the former MLC of Begusarai; Rajeev Kumar Verma, the district president of the BJP; Kundan Kumar, the MLA of Begusarai-Sadar; Sarvesh Kumar, the MLC of Begusarai; and Rajkumar Singh, the MLA of Matihani, were among the luminaries who graced the event.
“The core of this initiative is skill development and marketing training, which equips women with expertise for employment and entrepreneurship,” stated Giriraj Singh. “We make sure they have the resources they need to succeed under the direction of NSDC and with pledges from well-known businesses to employ trained Didis. Our goal is to establish a strong system in Begusarai that will empower women in all fields and ensure that no Didi is left behind. Together, we are building a future driven by the creativity, independence and leadership of women.”
Five major areas will be covered by the center’s training programs: apparel, textiles, gems and jewelry, handicrafts and management. The Centre will provide domain-specific training that meets the increasing needs of these businesses through partnerships with five Sector Skill Councils (SSCs).
Involved are the following councils: the Management Sector Skill Council, the Gems & Jewellery Sector Skill Council, the Textile Sector Skill Council and the Apparel Sector Skill Council. These collaborations will guarantee that the training is tailored to the needs of the market and specialised. In order to guarantee the calibre of training in design and branding strategies, NIFT Patna will also offer trainer support, enabling SHGs to produce beautiful, high-quality goods.
The Center’s hub-and-spoke approach is one of its distinctive aspects; it will enable the establishment of nanoscale production units at the block and gramme panchayat levels, thereby broadening the initiative’s scope.
Decentralised production made possible by these spoke units would enable even more rural women to take part in their communities’ economic development.
Enhancing the marketability of SHG-produced goods is another area of concentration for the Centre. In order to improve the reach and accessibility of these products, the centre will also endeavour to set up logistics routes that will guarantee the seamless delivery of completed goods to the market.
