The Uttar Pradesh Government has directed officials to prepare a comprehensive skill development action plan aligned with the current needs and future prospects of the textile sector.
While highlighting rapid technological advancements in the sector, including automation, modern machinery and technical textiles, the state’s Chief Minister noted that training programmes must be updated to meet evolving industry requirements. He directed officials to assess industry needs and make training more employment-oriented.
According to an official statement, the chief ministry proposed a textile skill development framework focused on stronger coordination among industries, training institutions and government departments.
The statement adds that over 2.28 lakh youth have been trained under the Samarth Yojana, with more than 1.60 lakh linked to employment. Women account for over 87% of the trainees.
Moreover, many youth have received training and certification in textile-related trades through the Uttar Pradesh Kaushal Vikas Mission.
