Twelve research projects for US $ 1.54 million have been approved by the 10th Mission Steering Group, which is chaired by the Union Minister of Textiles Giriraj Singh and is under the National Technical Textiles Mission.
The research projects were accepted in a number of important strategic areas, including composites, sustainable and intelligent textiles, and geotextiles. Prominent research organisations and institutes, including IITs, NITs, CRRI and more, submitted the accepted projects. There are now 168 authorised research projects within the Mission, totalling around US $ 60.31 million in value.
Giriraj Singh encouraged the sector to get involved in research projects once the Mission’s new IPR guidelines were released.
The Ministry of Textiles’ flagship program, the National Technical Textiles Mission, aims to strengthen the local industry’s capacity for research and development, particularly in the field of high-performance fibre creation.
