In its most recent report on its “Know Your Grower” activities in India and Pakistan, Sourcery, a global textile sourcing solution, has advocated for more precise, reliable, and equitable data collecting throughout the textile supply chain.
“We can’t measure what we can’t see,” said Sourcery’s grower engagement director Ruchita Chhabra in a press release. “By moving beyond inaccurate GPS data and using digital polygon mapping, we can ensure greater visibility. We want to incentivise data sharing that directly benefits growers and manufacturers–particularly in terms of financial benefits. By working together, we can create a future where accurate data empowers everyone in the cotton supply chain.”
In the Indian states of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Rajasthan as well as the Pakistani province of Punjab, Sourcery gathers primary data on a commercial basis. In order to raise industry standards, the organisation combines grower participation and incentives with commercial investment.
Sourcery is getting ready to release its Connect App in an effort to streamline the data collection process. Growers who log data using the app will be acknowledged and given rewards. The app will also be used to help farmers on a large scale and find ways to enhance environmental and infrastructure practices.
