If senior officials of Telangana are to be believed, around 12 to 13 textile/apparel companies are in the process to finalise their investments in the state.
Initially, it was Youngone Corporation, the Korean textile giant, which had provided the trigger to set up manufacturing units in the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park (KMTP), and now Kitex Group, Kerala has also announced to invest Rs. 1,000 crore in the same park.
As per media reports, a senior official from Handlooms and Textile Department of the state claimed that various companies are in touch/discussion with the State Government.
It can be mentioned here that few months back, Department of Handlooms and Textiles signed MoU with Gokaldas Images for setting up a 500-machine garment factory in Sircilla.
Welspun Group is another giant that has invested in the state. Besides, few other medium-sized companies have also invested in the state.
Extracting fibre from used PET bottles, Ganesha Ecosphere commenced construction works at KMTP and is setting up two projects under two subsidiaries Ganesha Ecotech and Ganesha Ecopet. Ganesha Ecopet will set up a recycled polyester filament yarn plant at an investment of Rs. 300 crore in 30 acres, employing over 500 persons.
The plant will be operational by October 2022.
Ganesha Ecotech will also set up a washed PET flakes and polypropylene fibre plant at nearly Rs. 200 crore investment in 20 acres, employing over 500 persons. This plant will be operational by June 2022.
After commissioning the first weaving unit in November 2019 at Whitegold Spintex Integrated Textile Park in Ibrahimpatnam, Divya Textiles commenced three additional units during the 2020-21 financial year. Five more units are under construction. The line of activity will be primarily weaving, garments and technical textiles.
