Giriraj Singh Is the new Minister of Textiles (MoT).
Giriraj Singh was born on 8th September 1952, and is known for his dynamic presence in politics. An MP from Begusarai, he graduated from Magadh University in 1971.
Singh, a veteran, has experience of various Ministries in the Union Government as well as the Bihar Government.
In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, he bagged a Lok Sabha election victory from Bihar’s Begusarai and won the election with 81,480 votes.
Rajya Sabha MP from Assam, Pabitra Margherita, has assumed the role of Minister of State (MoS) in the Textiles Ministry. He has also been appointed as the Minister of State in the Ministry of External Affairs. Margherita has been actively involved in various capacities within the BJP, notably serving as its spokesperson for the Assam unit since 2014.
It can be mentioned here that it took almost a full day to announce the portfolios of various Ministers in the cabinet.
Other important Ministries which have direct associations with the Ministry of Textiles have also been announced. Nirmala Sitharaman has been given the responsibility of the Ministry of Finance while Piyush Goyal has been allocated to the Ministry of Commerce. Jitan Ram Manjhi has been allocated to the Ministry of MSME.
