Textile and apparel industry has been one of the major sources of employment and revenue generation. Notably, amongst India’s 100 richest women, 11 are from the textile and apparel industry.
Kotak Mahindra Bank’s Kotak Wealth Management and Hurun India have come up with a detailed report/list of wealthiest women in India in the 2nd edition of ‘Kotak Wealth Hurun – Leading Wealthy Women’.
Based on the net worth of women as on 30 September 2020, this report focuses exclusively on women who play an active role in their family business, entrepreneurs and professionals.
Right from brands, yarn and textile to accessory companies and well-known designers, the list contains women from all segments.
With the wealth of Rs. 710 crore, Meena Bindra, Chairperson, Biba Apparels, Delhi tops the list as far as apparel and textile industry is concerned.
Others in the list include the likes of Prabha Devi Todi of Lux Industries, Kolkata (Rs. 580 crore); Sheela Kochouseph, Founder of V Star Creations, Kerala (leading manufacturer of innerwear) having wealth of Rs. 540 crore; Suchita Oswal Jain, Vice Chairman and JMD, Vardhman Textiles, Ludhiana (Rs. 330 crore); Anjana Reddy, CEO, Universal Sportsbiz (Rs. 300 crore); Anita Lal, Goodearth Design Studio (Rs. 250 crore); Ritu Kumar & family, Ritika (Rs. 240 crore); Anita Dongre and Meena Sehra from House of Anita Dongre, Mumbai (Rs. 160 crore); Nina Lekhi, Baggit India, Mumbai (Rs. 140 crore) and Radhika Piramal, Vice Chairperson, VIP Industries, Mumbai (Rs.110 crore).
