Focusing on collections for Spring/Summer 2013, the recently concluded 34th India Knit Fair at IKF Complex, Tirupur saw exhibitors displaying knitted garments made of organic cotton, bamboo fibres, cotton blends, viscose and poly-cotton in various styles for menswear, women’s wear, children’s wear and home textiles. The fair inaugurated by V.G. Kannan, Chief General Manager, Mid Corporate Group, SBI, Mumbai, witnessed the presence of 47 international buyers from countries like UK, Germany, Hong Kong, Spain, Italy, Finland, Korea, Czech Republic, UAE, Netherlands, Kuwait, Bangladesh, Panama and Dubai, and generated business worth Rs. 250 crores.
Organized by Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC), with sponsorship by the Ministry of Textiles, the event was targeted on creating market in new countries like Russia, Brazil, Japan, Australia, South Africa and South America. Dr. A. Sakthivel, Chairman, AEPC, claimed that despite the economic slowdown and pollution issues, Tirupur knitwear industry has been able to maintain the export revenue of Rs. 12,500 crore every year. He specially emphasized on the need of value-added products along with manmade fibres to sustain business through the entire year. Eastman Exports Global Clothing, Tirupur was presented with the best exhibit honour, while Tubeknit Fashions, Tirupur was the first runner-up. Global Pvt. Ltd, Ludhiana was second runner-up and the Consolation Certificate was awarded to Vijaya Exports India, Tirupur.
Out of 51 participants at the show, knitwear has a prominent presence with 40 knitwear exporters from New Delhi, Noida, Ludhiana, Kolkata,Tirupur, Coimbatore, Chennai and Bangalore showcasing their exclusive collections. Some of the attractions were improved fit cotton polo shirts, slug & suede shirts, nightwears, undergarments, ladies tops, pajamas, knitted pants and garment dyed tops. Various techniques were seen and appreciated by the buyers like jacquard knits, 3D prints, burn out and digital designs, Tie & Dye, sequencing, wrinkle finish and embroidery designs.
The 35th edition featuring Autumn/Winter Collections for the season 2013 is scheduled to take place from 17-19 October 2012.
