Specialising in woven sportswear, Noida based Creative Clothex has been recently conferred with Best Manufacturer’s Award by Adidas. While sharing the details Mohit Singhal, Director of the company says, “Amongst their ten to twelve dedicated vendors, Adidas picked us for this award.”
Young and articulate Mohit has also hired a Sri Lankan consultant Chandrajith Wickramasinghe (popular as CJ) to implement lean systems in his factory. Earlier the company had three units with 100 to 150 machines in each but now all has been consolidated under one roof for attracting bigger buyers who are not very comfortable with smaller set-ups and also to fetch better efficiencies through lean. “I visited factories in China and Indonesia and I found that those factories were producing far more garments per machine as compared to us. Their wastage and rejection percentage was just about .25% as compared to ours which is about 2.3%. To compete in the world market we have to be at the same level, so I thought of going for lean systems,” states Mohit who wants to focus on pre-production activities to reduce wastages machine’s down time and become more efficient than any other factory in India today. “We are looking at 7 to 8% reduction in our wastages,” he adds.
Presently the per month capacity of the company is to produce 1,50,000 pieces however it produces around 95,000 pieces. “We are looking at having more new clients to fill up our capacities along with increasing volumes with our existing buyers,” confides Mohit.
The company is also coming up with a new factory in Noida with 300 machines; plant would be commissioned by June next year. “This would be a fully automated set-up, with UBT’s, spreaders and cutters,” informs Mohit.
Creative Clothex is doing a turnover of Rs. 25 crore; and now with efficiency levels going up and additional capacities, the company is looking at touching Rs. 50 crore per annum. Adidas and Reebok are the biggest buyers for the company followed by Puma, Speedo and Wilson.
