
On 23rd April 2025, Tatiana Luhina, Chairperson of concern Bellegprom, Republic of Belarus, led a high-level delegation from the country to the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Mumbai.
Along with senior academics, department heads, and academic coordinators, Khushal Jangid, Director of NIFT Mumbai, extended a cordial welcome to the three-member Belarusian delegation. The trip was an important step in promoting global cooperation in the fashion and textile industries.
Prof. Dr. Patricia Sumod, Head of International and Domestic Linkages (I&DL), gave a summary of NIFT Mumbai’s academic programs, teaching methodology, alumni accomplishments, placement highlights, and international outreach activities during the interactive session.
Tatiana Luhina discussed the latest trends in Belarus’ textile sector and emphasised the country’s expanding capacity for producing inventive and ecological fashion. She praised the contributions made by NIFT Mumbai to the fashion industry and indicated a strong desire to see NIFT and Belarusian universities engage in organised academic exchanges and collaborative projects.
Programs for faculty and student exchange, collaborative research initiatives, and organised academic-industry collaboration were among the main topics of conversation. Through their interactions with faculty, the Belarusian delegation offered insight into the potential for cross-cultural learning and innovation in textile research and education.
