Ananya, a student of Fashion Design Department NIFT Mumbai, has worked with the Sikki Grass artisans from Bihar and developed an Avant Garde collection inspired by their local culture. The golden craft collection focused on bringing awareness about the craft on the global platform as well as empowering the artisans by suggesting market-appropriate design interventions for accessories, bags and footwear. She has named this craft ‘Golden Craft’. For this project, she won the award ‘Best use of traditional skills in contemporary styling’, said NIFT (Mumbai).
Arghya Rai from KD Department (NIFT Mumbai) has designed a hand knitted collection. The designs target modern women and attempt to make hand-knitted garments fashionable in the most sustainable way possible without compromising with the aesthetics. For her design approach, she won The Best Design Collection award…
Another award-winning project is the graduation project of Tanvi Gokhale that was sponsored by Boingg Kids Wear. She had designed decorative lamps for kids, to be placed bedside tables or study tables/hung on the wall/pendent lamps. In her projects, she ensured that the designed products should satisfy the needs of both the buyers, i.e., a parent and user i.e., a kid. Because of her creative user centric Design approach, she won the Best Graduation Project award.
