Jimmy Choo has selected Gauravi Kumari, a member of the Jaipur royal family, as their brand ambassador in India. Kumari is also the co-founder of the PDKF store in Jaipur, which displays the work of women connected with the Princess Diya Kumari Foundation, an organisation set up by her mother. All proceeds from the store add to the foundation’s initiatives.
“We are pleased to receive Gauravi Kumari to the Jimmy Choo family. Her influence and progressive thinking suit perfectly with our brand’s promise to blending tradition with a modern perspective,” said Sandra Choi, Jimmy Choo’s creative director.
“I am incredibly delighted and honoured to partner with a dynamic brand like Jimmy Choo as their brand ambassador in India. I have always liked their interpretation of refined glamour and eternal elegance. I am certain that this partnership will reverberate with our shared ethos and values,” shared Kumari.
Jimmy Choo has been gradually focusing on the Indian market. Lately, the brand hosted a cocktail party in London to commemorate Vogue India’s May-June issue featuring Bridgerton actor Simone Ashley. In November 2023, they planned an event to display Indian talent, including designers like Sanjay Garg of Raw Mango, Gaurav Gupta and Akshat Bansal of Bloni Atelier. The luxury footwear and accessories brand has also opened two outlets in Mumbai.
India, being the world’s most populous country, is all set to come out as the next frontier for luxury, as per a recent report from Barclays. Although presently representing only about 2 per cent of global luxury sales, Barclays estimates that the Indian luxury market will see a rapid growth, estimated to grow at an annual rate of 15 to 25 per cent over the next 7 years, reaching between € 23 billion and € 38 billion, driven chiefly by the expanding middle class.
