Meesho, backed by Softbank, has announced the appointment of four new independent directors: Hari S. Bhartia, Kalpana Morparia, Rohit Bhagat, and Surojit Chatterjee.
Hari S. Bhartia, founder and Co-Chairman of Jubilant Bhartia Group, is joined by Kalpana Morparia, former JP Morgan Chairman for South and South East Asia; Rohit Bhagat, non-executive Chairman of PhonePe; and Surojit Chatterjee, CEO of the AI company Ema.
Meesho’s Founder and CEO, Vidit Aatrey, expressed enthusiasm for the new board members, highlighting their diverse expertise and leadership. Aatrey believes their collective wisdom will be instrumental in driving Meesho’s growth and success in the Indian e-commerce market.
Bhartia’s leadership at Jubilant Bhartia Group, with its significant market presence in India, is notable. Morparia’s experience with JP Morgan and ICICI Bank brings valuable financial insights. Bhagat’s involvement with various tech and financial companies, including PhonePe, adds strategic depth. Chatterjee’s tech prowess, having scaled Google Mobile Ads and Google Shopping, and leading Coinbase through its IPO, further strengthens the board.
Aatrey is confident that these seasoned leaders will help Meesho achieve new milestones and revolutionize the e-commerce landscape in India.
