Venu Nair has been named as Myntra’s new chief of strategic alliances and omnichannel. Nair comes to Myntra from offline retailer Shoppers Stop, where he spent around three years as the Managing Director and CEO.
He will be in charge of “building strategic partnerships with leading global brands” at Myntra in addition to overseeing the portfolio of international brands, the company announced in a statement. Nair will oversee brand omnichannel strategies at Myntra as well.
Before joining Shoppers Stop, Nair held the positions of CEO of the Westside chain of clothing stores and chief commercial officer of Trent Ltd., the retail division of the Tata Group. According to a statement from Myntra, he had also oversaw the commercial operations of garment retailer Zudio and bookshop chain Landmark while he was at Trent.
The appointment takes place at a time when many brands—particularly in the D2C space—are adopting an omnichannel strategy, which integrates physical storefronts with online presence to increase sales. However, expanding the selection of brands—particularly well-known international brands—is a key factor in fashion e-commerce companies’ sales growth.
Over 50 foreign brands were added to Myntra in 2023, bringing its total to over 400. Myntra has also partnered with French brand Kiabi to get the brand into the Indian market and has partnered with Turkish company Trendyol which will offer its products on Myntra.
