Kolkata-based leading knitwear company Dollar Industries Ltd.’s CSR wing Dollar Foundation has joined hands with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to contribute and install water kiosks across 22 metro stations.
It also has plans to cover 100 metro stations in Delhi and install water kiosks in metro stations of other cities also over a span of 8 months.
In order to provide hygienic drinking water to all, the initiative is a part of Dollar’s constant efforts to give it back to the society.
As a pilot project, the foundation has installed one water kiosk at one metro station. In Phase I, the installation will begin from February 2021 and will be functional from the first week of March 2021.
Vinod Kumar Gupta, MD of the company says, “Our company has always been a responsible corporate and firmly believes in fulfilling our duties towards the society. Water is one of the driving forces for humanity and the initiative will positively impact the lives of thousands of commuters every day. We plan to cover major metro cities such as Chennai, Jaipur, Nagpur and Lucknow once we are through with the Delhi project.”
This initiative began from Kolkata where Dollar Foundation installed water kiosks across all the major metro stations. Installations of 15 water huts in various areas in Bhubaneshwar were also carried out.
