
The Indian Silk Export Promotion Council (ISEPC)’s flagship event India International Silk Fair is scheduled to take place from 22nd – 24th March at Gurgaon and it is expected to generate a business of over US $ 3.50 million for the SMEs engaged in producing silk and silk blended garments, fabrics, accessories etc.
Akash Mittal, Chairman, ISEPC informed that Darshana Vikram Jardosh, Union minister of state for textiles will inaugurate the 11th edition of this event.
India is the second-largest producer of silk in the world. The country’s sericulture industry employs around 9.76 million people in rural and semi-urban areas. The industry is one of the largest foreign exchange earners in the country.
ISEPC has received registration of over 275 overseas buyers from various countries and 75 buying agents for the event while 100 exhibitors will display their collection of silk and silk blended products.
The Central Silk Board is putting up Theme Pavilion showcasing the life cycle of different varieties of silk. The 3 day exhibition will provide a unique opportunity for exporters to display products and for overseas buyers a place orders and source their merchandise.
