India’s Apparel, Made Ups & Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council (AMHSSC) claims to have trained 51 female candidates for the ‘Self Employed Tailor’ job role in collaboration with India Potash Limited, a fertiliser company.
The purpose of the training was to create a skill repository for the apparel value chain, form a well-organised sector-specific labour market information system including third-party evaluations and certifications.
All the 51 aspirants were awarded certificates (of completing the training course) during a ceremony organised on January 5, 2018, in Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh.
AMHSSC is leading the skilling work in the sector by participating in the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY) and various other policies of other states including the non-PMKVY ones as well. It manages the provision of corporate training for people interested in CAD design, fashion, management, tailoring, sales and much more.
The Council is aiming to certify more than 2 million people in the next four years for the apparel industry of the country. It envisages imparting training to the youth through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative as well.
The CSR works with Indian Potash Limited to provide training on Sewing Machine Operator (SMO) and SET (Set Employed Tailor) job roles and further strengthen the skilled workforce in the garment industry.
