The 3rd edition of Liva Protégé Talent Hunt, organised by the Indian conglomerate Aditya Birla Group, joined forces with the e-commerce mammoth Amazon.in to promote the young fashion brigade. The special event took place in Mumbai in December last year.
Over 3,000 students from 190-plus institutes in India representing 50 cities participated in the distinctive competition that gives young fashion designers an opportunity to showcase their talent.
The participants were then shortlisted based on their designing capabilities before getting assigned a mentor.
Designers like Nida Mahmood, Pallavi Singhee, Anand Kabra Anshu Arora Sen, Priyadarshini Rao and Purvi Doshi supported the selected students hailing from IINIFD Pune, NIFT Mumbai, Pearl, GIFT Kolkata, WLCI College Kolkata, INIFD Chennai, Hamstech Hyderabad and NID Gandhinagar, to present their final collections at the contest.
Interestingly, the 2017 competition also saw participation from Tier II Indian cities like Ambala, Ludhiana and Kanpur to name a few.
Abhishek Tibrewal from Pearl Academy, New Delhi, was chosen as the winner of Liva Protégé 2017 and was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 2 lakh. Sonika Pulluru, Hamstech Hyderabad and Dibyani Mishra, GIFT Kolkata remained the 1st and the 2nd runner-up, respectively.
Dilip Gaur, Business Director, Pulp and Fiber Business, Aditya Birla Group and Managing Director Grasim Industries, said, “The competition aims to promote young talent by providing a launch platform for their future enterprises.”
The winners of the event will now get an exciting opportunity to present their collections on The Designer Boutique at Amazon.in.
