India’s leading online retailer Amazon India on Sunday shared that more than 1.1 lakh sellers on its platform received orders during the first 48 hours of its ongoing ‘Great Indian Festival’ sale.
It must be underlined here that a huge number of orders came from smaller parts of the country during the said period.
Expressing his joy at the big feat, Manish Tiwary, Vice President, Amazon India, averred that the aforementioned 48 hours were the biggest ever for the company.
“We had created a build-up for the sale for our Amazon sellers. Over 1.1 lakh sellers received orders, and 66 per cent of them came from small towns,” he beamed.
Manish went on to elaborate that the e-commerce major registered its biggest spike in new customers, and 91 per cent of them came from small towns (beyond the metros and top 40 cities).
Amazon’s ‘Great Indian Festival’, which began on 17 October, will continue for about a month in a chase to cash in on the upcoming festive season.
