The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has been working diligently to uplift the traders in India during the crisis that has caused huge losses to the whole retail ecosystem.
In their latest effort, they have piloted an e-commerce portal for all traders and retailers across the country, in collaboration with Department of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).
The online marketplace is focusing on delivering essential products to over 90 cities in India and will add more segments and categories in the next few months.
The website, which has solely been developed in India, has been launched in order to help local traders in their fight against giants like Amazon and Flipkart by strengthening the seller base.
The e-commerce solution is a one-stop-shop for all things from groceries to footwear and has integrated payment methods like unified payments interface (UPI), credit and debit cards along with net banking.
“We have already started this programme as a pilot’ initially it was launched with a small number of essential commodities, in 6 cities, namely, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Lucknow, Bengaluru and Kanpur. This has now grown to encompass 90+ cities in as little as 2 weeks. The learnings from the pilot will allow us to scale up to many more locations and categories beyond groceries,” as told by secretary general of CAIT, Praveen Khandelwal.
