An American speciality retailer of casual apparel and accessories, Aeropostale, which is run by Arvind Fashions Limited in India, is now mulling to add new categories such as kidswear and athleisure (athletic+leisure) segments to its product offerings.
The retailer is planning to launch its kidswear range next year in Indi which will be followed by the introduction of athleisure a year after that.
The news of its foray into the new segment has come after more than two years of the brand’s arrival in India which is majorly known for its graphic logo t-shirts and hoodies.
In addition to kidswear and athleisure, the fashion retailer is also planning to add a separate denim category to its list of offerings.
Apart from product portfolio, Aeropostale is also planning to expand its presence in smaller Indian cities from its current presence in the top 6. The brand aims to increase its store count from the current 33 to around 50 by the end of the ongoing fiscal year.
Markedly, Aeropostale made its entry in India in November 2015 and retails its products through around 33 exclusive stores and over 120 shop-in-shop (SIS) stores.
“Last year, the brand made its entry into department stores such as Lifestyle, Central and Shopper’s Stop. We will continue to expand in Pantaloons as well,” Sumit, Dhingra, Chief Operating Officer-Heritage Brands Division, Arvind Fashions Limited told Business Standard.
It is also reviving its online and offline presence across the globe. Further, the company will focus more on its collection available on e-commerce platforms such as Myntra, Jabong, Amazon and Flipkart, informed Dhingra. It expects to note 3 per cent growth in online sales from current 15 per cent to 18 per cent in the next three years, notably.
