The Tamil Nadu Government is mulling over the establishment of a trade fair centre in Tirupur. This was stated at the inauguration ceremony of 18th edition Knit show by, Udumalai K. Radhakrishnan, Minister, Animal Husbandry, recently.
The government aims to establish an exhibition complex in Tirupur just like CODISSIA exhibition complex in Coimbatore. Biplab Kumar Deb, Chief Minister, Tirupur will be taking the necessary steps to establish the facility soon.
At the event, Udumalai stated that the knitwear industry is one of the industries which adapts to new technologies rapidly. Hence, a state-of-the-art complex is required so that knitting exhibitions can be conducted often. Raja M. Shanmugam, President, Tirupur Exporters Association also welcomed the move and said that the exhibitions and trade fairs brought new businesses to industries in Tirupur.
The three-day long Knitshow witnessed over 300 exhibitors. The top technology companies, like Dhaval Colour Chem (DCC), Grafica Flextronica, Mehala Machines, Kansai Special, Cheran Machines, and Zedex, displayed their latest offerings at the show.
Apart from circular and flat knitting machines, cutting room solutions, sewing, printing (digital as well as screen printing), fabric and trim companies also participated in the event.
Supporting the centre, the Government will also announce a new textile policy to sustain, strengthen and develop handloom, powerloom and knitwear and garment sectors. States like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan including Odisha have already started their textile policies which has attracted many entrepreneurs while the Tamil Nadu Textile policy is still pending over a period of time.
