In a bid to promote and raise the market positioning of Handloom Products, the Ministry of Textiles launched an e-commerce site, www.indiahandloombrand.gov.in, of the Indian Handloom Brand. The website was inaugurated by Rashmi Verma, Secretary to Government of India, Ministry of Textiles. J K Dadoo, Additional Secretary & Financial Advisor; Alok Kumar, Development Commissioner for Handlooms and other senior officers of Ministry of Textiles were present on the occasion.
While launching the website, Textile Secretary Rashmi Verma said that the government is keen on raising the market position of Indian Handloom, for which this website is an important platform to achieve these objectives. Further talking about the attributes of the website, Verma said that it is a user-friendly website that is beneficial for both consumers and handloom agencies.

The website will serve as a one-stop platform for all services to consumers, bulk buyers and handloom producers. It would provide detailed information about all registered handloom producers in India, aiding consumers differentiate between genuine and fake handloom products.
The website launch is a bigger step in the direction of the development and holistic promotion of Indian Handlooms, as pledged on the first National Handloom Day observed on August 7. The main objective is to promote production of quality products, with new designs for winning the trust and confidence of customers by giving particular attention to defect-free, hand-woven, authentic niche products with zero-defect and zero impact on environment.
The government has come up with a few more strategies to increase production of high-value, good-quality products, leading to consumers’satisfaction and remunerative earnings to the weavers and Block Level Cluster Approach to support quality production.
