India-based Kalantry Textile Industries, a 70-year-old organization, is foraying into in garment finishing by investing in a finishing plant. The company is considering to have its own clothing line as well. However, it will continue to operate as a job worker.
Ashwin Kalantry, Director of the company, told Apparel Resources, “Strong finishing setup will help us in our own clothing line. We are investing nearly Rs. 5 crores and it will take around six months for us to establish the entire unit.”
As of now, Kalantry Textile is into the acquisition of old textile mills and selling of old textile machinery spanning from spinning, weaving to processing.
Ashwin shared that the booming market and Gujarat’s tremendous success in the apparel segment propelled him to diversify into this category.
Even from the financial perspective, the textile company believes this domain is cost-effective as the initial investment is quite less.
At present, Kalantry Textile Industries is earning nearly Rs. 25 crore-business per annum. The company is a part of Kalantry Group, which is also into other industries like infrastructure, consulting, etc.
