India’s most prestigious fashion event and design talent platform, Lakmé Fashion Week, is set to host its Winter/Festive 2018 season from August 22nd-26th in Mumbai, this year.
Every season, LFW selects one noteworthy designer to present his/her latest collection at the Lakmé Absolute Grand Finale, and also to conclude the season with a grand bang. For the Winter/Festive 2018 season, Lakmé Fashion week has announced the Grand Finale designer to be Mumbai-based designer Monisha Jaising.
Known for her figure-sculpting silhouettes that accentuate the female form, Jaising will be presenting a collection that would befit Lakmé’s beauty theme, ‘Shades of a Diva’. The designer will incorporate the use of precious elements and colourful fabrics, comprising of muted tones such as lilacs and bold hues such as peacock greens. The embroidered patterns within the collection will seek inspiration from global art, which in turn will complement the ‘diva-licious’ Lakmé Grand Finale stage.
“My association with Lakmé Fashion Week goes years back to when the concept of fashion weeks was nascent in the country. This season, my collection is inspired by Lakme’s theme – Shades of a Diva and I’m ecstatic that my signature style and my design philosophy have perfect synergy with this theme.” Jaising stated in a press release, adding, “Lots of evening glamour, shine, attitude, and colour is what you can expect from the Finale.”
Lakmé has been at the forefront of launching trend-setting beauty themes every season, within its wide range of products for the modern woman.
“Every season, our endeavour has been to introduce new beauty trends that complement and celebrate Indian women. We are excited to collaborate with Monisha for Lakmé Fashion Week 2018, to see her interpretation of this season’s beauty theme of Shades of a Diva, in a never-seen-before way on the ramp.” Ashwath Swaminathan, Head of Innovations, Lakmé said.
